Report of the Tennis Sub Committee Meeting 24th November 2010
The following is a brief summary of matters discussed at the meeting:
As Sara Charles has taken over as Ladies Morning Liaison, Wendy Rouse was welcomed as a co-opted member of the committee to represent Rusty Racquets.
The Club will apply a standard charge of £40 when hosting County matches.
The Captains reported that the winter matches had started well.
The committee thanked Geoff Burch for his excellent Junior Newsletter, copy on the Website and available in the Clubhouse.
Junior tennis is progressing well with up to twenty girls attending the new Saturday session.
The ball machine is now under the supervision of the coaches. Please contact them if you wish to use it.
The LTA are asking us to increase the number of our club members who are British Tennis members.
The sub committee agreed to propose to the main committee that there should be an opening ceremony of the new Clubhouse and Alan Gordon had provisionally asked Mark Cox (former UK No. 1 and Davis Cup player) if he would do this. THIS HAS NOW BEEN AGREED AND THE EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAY, 26TH FEBRUARY 12 NOON TO 3 PM.
The Rosemerryn Bowl is scheduled for Sunday, 20th February.
There will be a Christmas American Tournament on 12th December (subsequently held in bright sunshine with full entry of 32 players from teams to Rusty Racquets, a most enjoyable event – thanks to Sara Charles – won by Keith Douglas and Marianne Broadhead).
Drawn Partners is scheduled to start on 22nd January. Watch the board for entry lists.
The door entry key fobs for the new Clubhouse will be distributed by members over the next few weeks. These will be accompanied by a letter asking members to indicate whether they wish to participate in the 2011 Wimbledon Draw which is only open to those who are also British Tennis members.
Please speak to a member of the tennis sub committee if you would like any further information.
